Doze notices when your eyes stay closed while something is playing and pauses it for you. This page explains what the app does with the camera and what it keeps on your device.
At a glance
No personal data is collected, shared or sold.
Camera frames are processed on the device and discarded immediately.
The app has no internet permission, so nothing can leave your phone.
No account, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics.
What the app does with the camera
Only while media is playing, the screen is on and Doze is turned on, the app takes a few tiny frames from the front camera every few seconds and runs face detection on the device to estimate whether your eyes are open.
The frames are used only for that estimate and are discarded right after. No image is ever saved, shown or transmitted.
Face detection is provided by Google ML Kit in its bundled, on-device form. No frame is sent to Google or to anyone else.
Android's camera privacy indicator lights up briefly during each check. The app cannot hide it.
Outside the night hours you choose, or when nothing is playing, the camera is never opened.
What stays on your device
Settings: thresholds, countdown length, night hours, fade and dimming preferences.
Sleep log: for each pause, the time playback started and the time Doze paused it. Nothing about what was playing is stored.
All of this stays on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app. Android's backup service may back up settings and the sleep log to your Google account according to your device settings.
Sharing with third parties
None. The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs that transmit data.

Doze is intended for adults who manage their own device. The app does not collect personal information from anyone.
